L'Escala (The Ladder) leans into notions of power, success, and failure through a two-month-long process of accumulation and experimentation. This large-scale installation challenges conventional perceptions of power, posing provocative questions about its true nature and origins.

I am building a ladder, and this is what matters to me: if I climb it and it breaks, have I failed?

Is power found solely in reaching the peak of success, or does it also reside in the act of ascent and in the resilience required to confront failure? The process of sourcing materials through discarded and second-hand means raises questions about the origins of production—where value may not be immediately apparent, yet remains an essential prerequisite for creating an object or establishing a concept of “power.”

The piece features a 4-meter-tall ladder constructed from discarded materials, including cans, chunks of cement, found skis, and broken furniture. By sourcing materials through rejection and second-hand means, L'Escala raises questions about the origins of production and value. It reflects on whether power exists solely in reaching the summit of success, or if it also resides in the journey of ascent and the resilience required to confront failure.

The group exhibition, "Com va obrint-se la pell sense un punyal" (How the Skin Opens Without a Dagger), explores the body, labor, and power on stage. Through this lens, L'Escala prompts viewers to reflect on systems of hierarchy and the invisible forces shaping perceptions of power.
